What Stands Out-Hebrews 8 & 9

“But now he (Christ) has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.  Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people;  and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”  Hebrews 9:26b-28

I’ve been studying and meditating on the 5 solas of the Reformation,  especially Christ Alone.  These verses stand out for me because they emphasize the sacrifice of Christ Alone for all our sins — past, present and future.  With the new covenant we no longer have to rely on yearly sacrifices by human priests. We don’t have to rely upon our efforts to keep the law. Our High Priest is Christ and His sacrifice is sufficient for me and all who believe in Him.

Have you read chapters 8 & 9?  What stands out for you?
