By Our Love

Seems like I’ve been writing a lot this month about how to know if we are Christians.  That made me remember this song, which speaks about the primary way Christians are to be distinguished — love.  It was written in 1966 by Peter Scholtes, who was a Catholic priest in Chicago.  He needed a song suitable for use with a series of interracial and ecumenical events in which his youth choir was to sing.  It’s based on John 13:25:

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”
